- In the opening scene of this episode, Niles retrieves a pair of scissors from the kitchen and begins to run back to the living area. He then remembers that one is not supposed to "run with scissors" as it's considered dangerous and he slows down to a walk. This is a callback to the Cheers episode titled "Severe Crane Damage" (S8 E18), in which Frasier runs around the bar twice with a pair of scissors in his hand to prove to the bar patrons that he is "dangerous" and a "bad boy."
